Dave, thanks so much for joining our Sync Beat Magazine artist cover for this September 2026 issue. We’d like to start with a question that has forced many of us to re-start our lives & also reboot our brains as professionals: the pandemic. How did you experience the pandemic, what went through your mind, and how did you live through that moment when we were returning to a normality?


It was a very strange time for humanity wasn’t it. Such a bizarre couple of years, where the whole world ground to a halt and we were all virtually imprisoned in our homes. Towns and cities becoming like ghost towns, homeschooling the kids, DJs live-streaming sets from our homes and of course, the very real fear that covid could claim you life or the life of someone close to you. When I look back now, it almost feels like a dream. But I have to admit, I did enjoy some aspects of that time. Being able to get off the “hamster wheel” for a while and spend time at home with the family did have its benefits. For me personally, creatively, I really enjoyed reconnecting with my vinyl collection. It kept me busy and was job I would never really otherwise had the time to do. I spent a few months working my way through it all and really fell back in love with record collecting and in some respect, with music itself. It was quite cathartic. I have to also say though, after 6 months of being stuck at home, I’d had enough, and was itching to get back out into the world and to some sort of normality.


After updating our audience about the pandemic & post-pandemic times…Can you tell us about how you became involved in dance music, and what inspirations in particular really catched you into the music genre you are submerged?


I fell in love with dance music in my teens in the mid 80s. I was fixated by DJing and so in turn, became obsessed with New York club culture, which led to a love of breakdancing and Electro Music. Arthur Baker was a big hero of mine. I loved New Order and Pet Shop Boys and so when House Music arrived in 1986, I was all over it. Of course, electronic music has now splintered into so many sub-genres and the lines between them have become so blurred that it’s hard to make sense of it all these days, but I suppose the first wave of Progressive House in the early 90s is still a benchmark for me on what I’m drawn to within dance music. Non mainstream, driving, percussive, melodic club music. Grooves you can get lost in, punctuated by uplifting breakdowns and clever artistic flourishes.



Although you maintain your unique, original style, it must be acknowledged that your productions have evolved and adapted to the scene over time… How have you artistically handled this entire process?

It’s all been very natural to be honest, I feel like my productions have evolved with the times and with technological developments. The scene is constantly evolving and I’ve just followed my instinct. For me, there’s no artistic reward or fulfilment, in repeating oneself over and over so I try to keep moving forward.

Yes, the electronic music scene in Great Britain has been evolving throughout this time with various different styles, artist, and different electronic music genres… Do you identify with this evolution?

For sure. Like I said, the scene is constantly evolving. It never stands still. That’s what makes it so appealing and enduring. Things do go round in cycles though. The circular nature of fashion constantly draws inspiration from the past and right now, it feels like that golden era of late 90s /millennial Progressive is coming back into vogue. So it’s been fun to revisit what was a particularly successful period for me.

You are the “mastermind” behind Selador Recordings, along with Steve Parry, a label that has reached impressive heights and great success with its various releases…What does the label means to you?

The label is a labour of love to be honest. Steve & I both run it alongside our main jobs but we have always given it as much love and energy as time allows. We enjoy the sense of community if brings and the simple pleasure of discovering new music and sharing it with the world is quite addictive. Giving artists a solid platform from which to showcase their music. It’s a good vehicle for collaboration and as a brand, it helps us position ourselves in the overgrown jungle that Electronic Music has ballooned into. It’s our flag in the sand.

Of course, you also have a weekly radio show where you invite different artists associated not only with record label, and it’s broadcasted worldwide on the most prestigious electronic music stations… How do you assess the reach of your show in explaining the exponential growth of the label?

Yes, the Selador Sessions is our weekly radio show/podcast where we invite an artists from the roster and the extended Selador family to do an exclusive hour long mix. It acts as a weekly delivery of the music we love to an ever growing audience who like what we do. It’s kind of a weekly calling card which keeps us engaged with our base. My own Radio Therapy Broadcasts which I do on a monthly basis form one of the weeks on the rota (usually the first week of the month) and my label partner Steve Parry also provides regular mixes. Just recently we’ve had Danny Howells, Anthony Pappa, D-Nox, Dilby, Cioz and Just Her all provide exclusive mixes for us. You can find them all 380+ editions via our website, seladorrecordings.com 🙂

We know from a reliable source that you’re currently immersed in the launch of your new album… Can you give us some details about this new work?

Well, it’s only taken me 37 years from my first steps in a recording studio to get around to producing and releasing my first artist album, but I’m delighted it’s finally happening. It was a bit of a bucket list thing for me that I needed to tick off at some point. It’s scheduled for release in October with 3 singles proceeding it and it’s a collection of new tracks alongside reworked and revised favourites from my catalogue. Joining the dots between the old and new. The first single is a brand new breaks remix of my Nightfalls track that uses the Gaelle Adisson vocal from Ananda Project’s ‘Cascades Of Colour’ with other mixes from Cioz, Elif and Dilby which is out now, and available on vinyl too!

Now that we know the details surrounding your new album, we’d like to know about the creative process and what you based it on…

Like I say, it’s joining the dots between the old and new. There’s several tracks that people might know already, but all tweaked and revised for this particular project. I wanted to bring together a collection of tracks that worked altogether as one listening experience. It’s not mixed together in the traditional sense but it all does segue and flow as one piece. It was fun to revisit some old favourites and put new contemporary twists on them. I’m really pleased with the outcome.

How do you expect your loyal audience to react to this new album? Will they be surprised, or are they expecting Dave Seaman’s usual style?

Well, it’s still very much me, but it’s not just strictly a club music collection if that’s what you’re expecting? Of course, there are several dance floor orientated tracks but there’s a few that have no drums at all. It’s a collection of styles. There’s an old favourite reworked around a big cinematic string arrangement, a couple of breaks cuts, some lo-slung dirty Electronica and plenty of vocal based pieces too. I wanted it to work as a more organic listening album but then of course, there’ll be lots of club remixes to come too.

Now we want to know if you’re going to tour with this album, and where you’re going to travel…

I’m not touring the album specifically but of course, I’m constantly touring and will definitely be playing tracks from it in my sets. A couple of highlights on my tour diary for the latter part of 2026 that spring to mind are a special 30th anniversary party in my newly adopted home of Ibiza for Global Underground, and a Selador meets Sudbeat event at ADE in Amsterdam. No doubt you’ll hear some of the album if you’re at either of those.
